Was Nagato stronger than Obito. Yes you could stab and kill him like any other character but its creating that opening that is difficult. Nagatos position as the leader of Akatsuki was well-deserved being regarded as its most powerful member.

But the issue is that neither of them knew Nagatos. Which Nagato since his childhood did with no problems at all at times without even realizing it no less. Stronger than probably anyone save God Madara and Rinnegan Tobi with all his edos.
